I’ve been wanting to post this one for a long time — well, at least since I wrote it at the end of summer.  I originally intended to post it as a series of articles, each article defined discretely by the sections that this paper is broken up into.  As I thought it about it more, however, I felt compelled to post this paper in its entirety. Starting Anew

I’ve done what I had hoped not to do — gone months between blog posts. One of my greatest frustrations as the reader of several blogs is to wait for weeks or months to read new posts. While I don’t know if many people read my blog, I do know several do. More important, and I believe I’ve alluded to this before, is the catharsis I get from writing what’s on my mind. Read More…

More On Trackbacks/Pingbacks

Well, after a lot of investigation and an update of the BlogEngine source, I’m making progress!

First of all, I was able to receive a trackback from my classroom science blog as a result of a test article (since deleted) I published on that blog related to another article I posted here.  The result was a comment referring to the pingback from Mr. Fredericks’ Science Blog. Read More…

“Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow,” or so the song goes.  We here in the southern Puget Sound region have been deluged with snow like no other in recent history (the word deluge is a relative term, as people I know elsewhere in the country have received much more of the frozen precipitation than us).  The result – over a foot of snow, happy kids, confused young dog, and lots of time spent getting everyone from one location to another.  I love the snow — though my childhood enthusiasm for frolicking in the snow has subsided with age.  There is great pleasure in waking up in the morning to look out upon the snow-dusted branches that are bare of the leaves that covered their slender lengths not too long ago.  Poetic fancy aside, the snow has been a nice distraction. We even have hope of a white Christmas for the first time in the nearly 30 years I’ve lived in Washington. The snow, however, has distracted me from posting in recent days. Read More…

Trackbacks in BlogEngine

Trackbacks in BlogEngine are a well discussed subject amongst the users of this blog platform.  I’d have to say, I am among those who are still trying to figure it out — I’m new to BlogEngine.  I attempted a trackback to an article on a classroom science blog that I run.  Thus far, the trackback hasn’t worked.  There are several possible reasons for this: Read More…

Blogging in the Science Classroom

I’ve always enjoyed blogging as it allows me to write about topics of interest.  I tend to think a bit more critically about what I write as I realize it will be viewed by the public, though that public audience might be small.  Unfortunately, my previous blogs have been somewhat limiting in their natures as they were narrowed to specific topics — one about mixed martial arts, the other about programming and web design; thus the creation of SumQuodSum.  SumQuodSum is an avenue for me to write about a wider array of topics that are of interest to me (see About page for an idea of what those topics are).
