“Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow,” or so the song goes. We here in the southern Puget Sound region have been deluged with snow like no other in recent history (the word deluge is a relative term, as people I know elsewhere in the country have received much more of the frozen precipitation than us). The result – over a foot of snow, happy kids, confused young dog, and lots of time spent getting everyone from one location to another. I love the snow — though my childhood enthusiasm for frolicking in the snow has subsided with age. There is great pleasure in waking up in the morning to look out upon the snow-dusted branches that are bare of the leaves that covered their slender lengths not too long ago. Poetic fancy aside, the snow has been a nice distraction. We even have hope of a white Christmas for the first time in the nearly 30 years I’ve lived in Washington.
